THE MARBLE PROFESSIONS
The Associazione Compagnia Lizzatori Carrara, with the aim of making known and celebrating the labour carried out in the marble quarries of the Apuan Alps, promotes and organises the re-enactment of the ‘lizzatura’, the ancient way of moving a marble block from the quarry yard down to the ‘poggi’ (the loading stations), from which it was then carried down to the valley and on to the places where it was worked and sculpted;
